Start out at this URL right here: www.facebook.com/pages/create.php and it brings me to this page right here, which says to create a Facebook page to build a closer relationship with your audience and customers. So you have six options here of what type of page you want to create. You can create a page for a local place or business, as you can see, and join your fans on Facebook. You can set up a company, organization or institution page to join your supporters on Facebook. You can set up a brand or product page. You can set up an artist, band or public figure page. You can set up an entertainment. Or you can set up a causes or community page. What I’m going to do is actually set up a local business or place page for a local construction company that I’m going to help with setting this up. I’m going to choose a category. You’re going to choose the best category for your business. So mine is Home Improvement. I’m going to put the business name, street address. Just filling all this out. Then you want to come down here and agree to all the Facebook page terms. Read that if you like. Click that and then Get Started.

So you’re here at this page right here. I’m not really going to worry about setting up the profile image, although I know that the image does need to be a minimum 180 pixels wide so that it actually fits into that. And I think the maximum size is 600 by 220 wide, just so you know, when you’re prepared to upload your image or your profile photo. I’m going to hit Skip right now and I’m also going to hit Skip to all this stuff. This is basically, you’re able to Invite Friends, you’re able to Share your page and Import Contacts, you’re able to share this page on your wall and include a message– I’m going to un-tick this because I’m setting this up for somebody else—and you can Like this page if you like, you can Claim Places. This section down here is recognizing another page that’s similar to the page that I’m creating and they’re saying, “Is this your page?” So you can either claim that and hit Skip or Continue.

I’m going to hit Continue. Right here I’m going to enter the web address. Right here I’m going to put in a little blurb about this company that I’m helping. And I’m going to hit Continue. And there you have it. That is how you set up your Facebook business page. What you have here now is a Wizard that Facebook is going to take you through one by one and help you get started with your page properly and that you can get started as quickly as possible.
